Westborough Chemical Peels at Onore Aesthetics & Wellness

Over time, the skin can become damaged or tired, gradually losing its bright, smooth, and youthful qualities. Skin resurfacing treatments like chemical peels eliminate old, dull skin cells on the skin’s surface to reveal fresh, new skin while promoting natural rejuvenation. The chemical peel specialists at Onore Aesthetics & Wellness offer a variety of formulas and strengths to target your individual concerns with respect to your specific needs and goals. Learn more about the science behind chemical peels, and schedule your consultation with one of our highly trained and experienced skincare experts.

Personalized to You
What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are specially formulated treatments that simultaneously exfoliate the skin and direct the body’s natural healing components to the treated area for comprehensive repair. These acidic formulas create controlled damage at varying depths so that damaged cells can be replaced with healthy, beautiful cells. While skin resurfacing treatments, by nature, improve a broad range of concerns through comprehensive complexion rejuvenation, chemical peels offer precise solutions designed to maximize their effects on specific skin conditions.

Your Chemical Peel Procedure

When you arrive on the day of your treatment, your aesthetic specialist will first cleanse your skin and protect your eyes and hair for your procedure. Once you are ready, they will apply your customized chemical peel solution to the targeted skin. The solution will be allowed to sit for a specified amount of time before being carefully wiped away. You will be able to leave our office immediately after your treatment. However, for a deep chemical peel, you may receive intravenous sedation and require the help of a close friend or family member to drive you home.

Chemical Peel Recovery and Aftercare

The main focus during recovery after a chemical peel is simply allowing your skin to heal without overdrying, sun damage, or picking. After your peel, you may notice some redness and swelling before the outer layer of your affected skin begins to slough away. It is extremely important during this period to allow your skin to peel on its own without picking, rubbing, or pulling at it.

While you will need to keep your skin moisturized, you will also need to avoid skincare products with harsh chemicals. We recommend a gentle, natural moisturizer to maximize your recovery. For deep peels, it is important to know that you may have some lingering redness for several months following your treatment, and you will need to protect your skin from sun exposure for the duration of your recovery to prevent any damage to new skin cells.

Chemical Peel Results

Following a light or medium chemical peel, you can expect to see your results within seven to 10 days. For deep peels, healing takes a bit longer since it stimulates more substantial rejuvenation. For most patients, deep peels take two to three weeks to heal, and full results appear around three months after their treatment. Light and medium peels can be repeated every several months to maintain your fresh complexion. Deep peels, however, produce significant results that can last up to a decade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients schedule their chemical peel treatment during the winter to avoid missing out on outdoor activities during the warmer months and to prevent damage caused by sun exposure.

While even a mild peel will improve the texture and appearance of your skin, most patients schedule regular mild and medium peels to maintain their results. However, for deeper peels, one treatment can last as long as a decade without any follow-up treatments.
